Type: Awamori

Awamori is a spirit indigenous to Okinawa, made from Thai long-grain rice. With a long history, this is thought to be the first distilled spirit to appear in Japan. Awamori is made only in Okinawa, with around 50 producers making the spirit. This single-distilled beverage can be made year-round in Okinawa’s warm climate. Awamori is traditionally aged, and when it is aged for an extended period of time it’s called “kusu”. Some are aged up to 30 years, and grow more earthy and flavorful with time!
