Region: Okayama

Okayama is located in the Chugoku Area, East of Hiroshima. It is known as “The Land of Sunshine” because of its mild and warm weather throughout the majority of the year. It is known for its bountiful agriculture, especially famous for its fruits! Okayama has ideal conditions for sake brewing. In the north there are three main rivers that flow south, providing a huge supply of subsoil water for sake production. This prefecture is also known as the birthplace of Omachi rice, the grandfather of all sake brewing rice.
